Maggot Production in Various Organic Wastes (Vegetables, Fruits, Food Processing Industries): Potential as Alternative Feed Substitutes for Fish Meal

Maggot is an alternative to fish meal because it has a fairly high protein content, easy cultivate and able decompose organic waste into its own food. The better the quality of maggot growing media, higher production will be . Vegetable, fruit food processing industrial that commonly encountered but nutritional low. To improve quality, fermentation was carried out using local microorganisms (MOL). purpose this study examine effect various types vegetable, media different times on (Hermetia illucens). This conducted experimentally factorial randomized block design (RAK) method with 2 factors ( 3×3), namely factor 1 for wastes (D1 = vegetable waste, D2 D3 waste) time (L1 days, L2 4 L3 6 days), 3 replicates. parameters consisted biomass weight, feed consumption, reduction index/WRI, conversion efficiency/ECI, survival rate/SR. results variance showed had very significant (p<0.01) production. It concluded illucens) best in D1L1 treatment weight 1522.33 g, consumption 66.06%, WRI 2.20%, ECI 0.42%, SR 89.52%.
